The 13th Amendment
The Thirteen amendment to the United states constitution states "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." With the ratification of this bill slavery was ended and with it the southern war effort
Abe Lincoln believed that this amendment was crucial in ending slavery. This was based on the fact he believed the emancipation proclamation (which freed all slaves in the rebel states were free) was unconstitutional.13th Amendment was introduced to the House by James Mitchell Ashley (representative from Ohio). The bill was passed by senate on April 8, 1864, and the House on January 31, 1865. On February 1, 1865 with the ratification by Georgia on December 6,1865 mark the official end of slavery in the United States.

The 14th amendment
The 14th amendment to the united states constitution states "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Granting citizenship to everyone born in America and equal right and protection under the law.
The idea for the fourteenth amendment was originally conceived to protect the right of the black man in the south. It did this by giving him rights and requiring the government to protect him. it was officially ratified on July 28,1868 it later became very important during the civil rights movement in the 50s and 60s.

The 15th amendment
the 15th amendment to the United States constitution states "right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude." This gave the black man (not women) the right to vote. The Amendment was officially ratified on February 3, 1870, but it wouldn't be until the Voting right act of 1965 that all blacks would be registered to vote.
