Johnson was a firm believer that anybody could be president, as he himself does not have proper education and born in a log cabin. He was the 17th president of the United States, directly after Lincoln. He drafted a reconstruction policy very similar to Lincoln, but it appealed to the more unionist view, being slightly more harsh on the South. Despite this, many were mad at how lenient it was, which turned people against Johnson. He was impeached by the Radical Republicans who claimed he broke the Tenure of Office Act. He wasn't evicted from office, but he came very close.
