Ulysses Grant
Grant was more of a military man, but he was elected as the 18th president of the United States in 1868. Americans hoped for and end to turmoil with his election, a time of "vigor and reform" but Grant didn't do either. He had been duped by two men, Jay Gould and James Fish, who cornered the market in gold, and by the time Grant found out and sold a good amount, the damage had already been done. The two scammed the market easily. He did little during his presidency, and only allowed Radical Reconstitution to run it's course.
